Olas Staker Expeditions formed the foundation of the agent economy.
They were never just yield programs but a controlled rollout of a new staking paradigm designed to reward activity over capital.
From the beginning, the focus was clear:
Each deployment was part of a broader learning loop, shaping how agent activity could be coordinated at scale. Instead of rewarding token lock-up, Olas rewards real agent work.
The first expedition began with Everest in late 2023. It established the initial live environment for testing agent coordination under real conditions. This was followed by Alpine, and then Coastal followed in 2024, each expansion widening participation.
Across these phases, the system gradually scaled as more operators joined and more agents were deployed. From there, multiple expansions followed, scaling to:
A clear transition is now underway in Olas Staking. The system is moving away from early operator tooling - designed for experimentation and technical users - toward a more mature interface focused on broader participation and scale.
Quick start (a CLI tool), which supported early agent operators during the expeditions phase, is being fully deprecated:
Quickstart enabled early experimentation with running agents under real conditions, but it also required technical setup and manual configuration. Its retirement marks the end of the early tooling layer built for expeditions, and the transition into a new phase of Olas Staking centered on more accessible interfaces.
Pearl is now the primary interface to run agents on Olas and a fully featured platform for Olas Staking. It makes Olas accessible to everyone and is designed to simplify how agents are deployed and operated, reducing the need for technical know-how.
It makes Olas accessible to everyone:
Pearl is designed for scale, removing friction and enabling broader participation in the agent economy.
