About Peaq

Peaq is leading a global infrastructure revolution, empowering people to own and earn from mobility, energy, connectivity, environment, agriculture, and digital infrastructure. Peaq is a layer-1 blockchain designed to be the go-to backbone for DePINs (real-world apps). It is home to more than 30 applications in 11 industries and to the 500,000+ devices, vehicles, machines, and robots (Machine RWAs) that run on them. peaq serves as permissionless, borderless digital infrastructure for increasingly intelligent machines to serve all of humanity – the 100%, not just the 1% – democratizing abundance in the Age of AI and job automation.

About Olas

Olas is the network for co-owning AI. Olas enables everyone to own a share of AI, specifically autonomous agents. One of the first Crypto x AI projects, founded in 2021, Olas offers the composable Olas Stack for developing autonomous AI agents, and the Olas Protocol for incentivizing their creation and co-ownership. Olas' mission is to incentivize and coordinate different parties to launch autonomous agents that form entire AI economies serving all humans. Olas is giving rise to agent economies across major blockchains. Check the Olas website to see how many hundreds of thousands of transactions have been made. Learn more at olas.network.

Challenge

The Combinder protocol, built on the Peaq blockchain, aimed to demonstrate the feasibility of Web3-powered nano-grid energy management using AI agents. To achieve this, the project required two key elements: a skilled autonomous AI agent developer and a robust multi-agent system capable of efficiently managing energy consumption and production.

Solution

Through the Olas Builder program, Combinder partnered with Keyko, a development agency with a proven track record, including three Olas-certified AI agent developers. Together, they developed a prototype connecting a physical solar panel and an air conditioning unit to an energy marketplace, showcasing the potential of smart grid technology.

Using Olas AI agents, the system monitored household energy consumption and solar panel production. When the AI agent predicted energy overproduction (where production exceeded consumption), it autonomously activated the air conditioning unit. This innovative prototype demonstrated how AI can balance local energy supply and consumption while maximizing sustainability.

Results

By leveraging the Olas stack, Combinder successfully built a multi-agent system to autonomously manage devices, enhancing efficiency and automation in energy management. Key results include:

“AI-imbued machines are already accounting for more and more value creation in real-world economies. With Olas, we are creating the framework for moving this process on a Web3 foundation and opening it for anyone to join — a path towards a more egalitarian automated economy that works for everyone, not just for the 1%.” - Till Wendler, Co-founder, peaq
