DeFAI Agent Performance: 4 Weeks of Basius

Basius, a DeFAI agent on Olas, is designed to put idle stablecoins to work without you manually managing positions. It has been live on Base since mid-June, allocating funds across Aerodrome liquidity pools according to rules that weigh potential yield against pool risk, to accrue AERO rewards. It runs locally through Pearl, so your funds stay in wallets you control while the agent executes on-chain transactions.

With its first month behind it, here's how the first Basius agents have performed.

The first four weeks

The following figures cover all Basius agents running on Base since launch:

• Weekly ROI ~0.33%
• APR ~8%, with a peak of 15% (annualized from four weeks of observed data)
• 671 transactions executed on-chain

Measured performance rose over the first few weeks, reached the target level , and stayed around there. The 671 transactions show the agent stayed active across the month, actively updating its thinking, rather than entering a position and leaving it untouched.

What this tells us, and what it doesn't

Basius started small on purpose, with the aim of observing the approach at small scale first, then deciding whether to commit more capital. Over this window, it behaved as intended.

It ran without interruption on Base and reached the target within three weeks. The open question is how it behaves as market conditions change and capital increases. Its behaviour will be monitored before drawing broader conclusions.

Why Base

Base keeps fees low, which matters for an agent designed to move positions often. Smaller fees mean more flexibility to shift liquidity when a better opportunity appears, and less of each result absorbed by gas. Base also holds deep stablecoin liquidity, much of it on Aerodrome, where Basius operates. For an approach defined by frequent, repeated execution, the chain it runs on is part of the design.
